Roark Family Fund
Preserving the Past for the Future
Our Mission
The Roark Family Fund is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of buildings and other structures with social or historical significance to the communities of northeast Pennsylvania for the benefit of present and future generations.
TJ Roark was born in 1859 in Fork Mountain, PA (Equinunk area). He was a farmer and ran a boarding house there. He was a father of 5 and lived in the northeast PA area his whole life. His daughter, Beatrice, would marry Thomas Gill and live in Pleasant Mount, PA. His other children left the area but maintained relationships here and had a summer vacation home in Lake Como, which is still in the family today. One of TJ’s granddaughters, Sue Ryan, married Ben McCormick, a Honesdale native. They raised their 13 children on the McCormick Homestead in Honesdale.
Through the years, many of TJ's descendants have moved back to northeast PA because of the family ties and the beauty this area provides. It was decided that a fund be created in TJ’s honor to preserve the area he lived in for almost 80 years.
We are like minded, with family values and a deep history in the NEPA area. We hope to keep the local treasures from becoming run down and forgotten.
If you feel the same, please consider giving what you can to the Roark Family Fund.
